Joseph learned ... the power of prayer. The first visitation of Moroni came in answer to prayer. So came the First Vision. The Lord is ready to give, but he requires that his children ask. It would not be natural or wise to force blessings on anyone. The power of prayer is inestimable. One prays for little; usually much comes in answer. If men would only approach the Lord, what great gifts might not be vouchsafed them!
John A. Widtsoe (1872 – 1952) was a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1921 until his death.
