I can remember very distinctly that I was heavily involved myself when President Smith made that remarkable talk, one of the strongest I have ever heard him make (Gospel Doctrine (4th edition), p.325). I made a pledge to myself that no matter what the price may be, I would not borrow a dollar to invest in anything, but I would go along quietly until I was free from debt.
