…The testimony of Emma Smith Bidamon, President Brigham Young, President Wilford Woodruff, and others [is] that the Prophet wished to add more to the New Translation than was contained in the manuscript. It should be remembered, however, that the revisions that were made are valid, and they are of great worth because of their content. I feel that probably the most important parts were revised and put into a form useful to the members of the Church, and that perhaps what remained to be done consisted primarily in refinements and polishing to remove ambiguities and to clarify certain inferences.
