In the music world of today, many people claim that they never listen to the lyrics and that the messages never affect them. Research, however, shows that our brains are marvelously perceptive and pick up almost any message within sight or sound, whether we consciously admit to receiving it or not. The message is stored permanently in our brains, possibly affecting our moods and attitudes just as much as if we consciously chose to listen to it. With today's technology, many devious messages may be entering our brains while we claim that we only listen to “harmless” music.
